It was designed by Vincent G. Raney. Another notable landmark in Pleasant Hill is its City Hall, which won architectural design accolades after its completion.

Pleasant Hill was incorporated as a city in 1961. After its incorporation, more development projects took. Chief among these was the redevelopment of the Contra Costa and Monument Boulevards in 1991 to give way to Pleasant Hill’s Downtown district, which was only opened in 2000.
